An inexpensive option, and ideal for children, open coil mattresses are the most widely used type and a great entry level solution. A good quality, single pocket spring mattress will contain hundreds of individual springs resulting in a support system that prevents the springs from rolling into each over when under pressure.

Latex single mattresses have a distinctive, resilient feel and are incredibly durable. The aerated, self-ventilated open cell interior of a Latex mattress helps to disperse body moisture helping to maintain a consistently fresh, dry sleep surface, making them a great choice for allergy sufferers.

A fairly recent addition to the mattress market is the gel variety. Generally combined with traditional fillings, the gel interior may be infused or in some instances may be contained within a layer to create a different feel to that of the traditional memory foam design.
